This
single-piece door hardware module and structural reinforcement uses long-fiber
technology to reduce weight and provide structural, acoustical, and safety door
functions. Part reduction is achieved
through integration of the window regulator, latch, audio, interior panel,
electrical, and electronics systems components.
Mass savings of over 0.9 kg (2 lb) / vehicle were realized, along with
50% reduction in assembly costs, and 10% reductions in materials costs.
