Headlamp Shutter / Integrated Back-Lighting Ring

Replacing high-temperature PC with an LCP in this injection-molded headlamp application, the part meets all thermal requirements without plating, coating, or special treatment in a thinwall design that provides excellent creep and long-term property retention. Colors are heat-stable and the polymer is inherently flame retardant. A very-thin cold runner is used to mold the material in an extremely short cycle and with 30% less sprue waste. The change was cost neutral yet yielded better properties and higher part quality with less scrap.

Stator Solenoid

This is the first time that an LCP has been used for a stator solenoid application.  The resin was chosen because of its ability to withstand high pressures, temperature to 180C, harsh chemicals, and due to its  low CLTE.  Fully automated injection molding with 3 metal inserts is used to produce the parts.

S-8 High Temperature Series Lighting Assembly

This lighting system uses a unique combination of materials that withstand higher temperatures while reducing levels of material outgassing.   LCP resin, used for the lighting body and wedge base, enables front and daytime running lamps to continuously operate up to 230C (446F) without negatively impacting the photometric output, as can occur when other materials (e.g. nylons and PPA’s) are used in its place.  Furthermore, the LCP solution saves costs due to reduced cycle times.
