Due to clearance requirements for the Bombay doors on this console, the
cross-sectional area of the top-finish panel (TFP) substrate was very small,
which made cross-car deflection a concern.
Since there was no room to make the TFP thicker, a material change was
made to boost structural performance.
The 60% GR PA 6/6 resin provided a significant reduction in cross-car
deflection (68% better than ABS and 44% better than 20% GR PP) while improving
quality perception.
