Geared Axial Polymer Thrust Bearing

Novel design and processing, combined with high-performance PAI polymer reduced mass, improved performance, increased efficiency, and provided greater dimensional stability over time vs. powder-metal bearings (which were too heavy and costly) and aluminum bearings (which failed durability tests). Features of traditional thrust bearings as well as axial needle bearings were incorporated in a single part, which provides a benchmark for similar metal replacement.
