This roof-ditch molding is industry's first co-extruded,
all-plastic, hot-formed clip-on design. No metal reinforcements or foils were
required. The PP material uses 40%
ultrafine, sub-micron ground talc as a filler to significantly improve HDT,
stiffness, and dimensional stability vs. using 40% fine-ground talc. An
estimated $4 USD/car direct cost savings was achieved, while HDT was improved
20% and stiffness 30%. Since dimensional performance also increased, no metal
reinforcement was needed.
