Integrated Electric-Release Tail Lamp

In this swing-gate application, a hidden electronic release handle is hidden in the tail-lamp assembly. Tripping the micro-switch causes the swing gate's latch release to open via a power motorized actuator. This patent-pending development is achieved in fewer parts and assembly steps yet allows a sleek theme to be achieved while meeting existing swing-gate functionality with a direct-drive power option, which is uncommon. Weight is reduced 17%, direct costs $2.1MM USD, and indirect costs $0.8MM annually when complete closure, hardware, and lighting cross-functional systems are considered. The injection-molded plated ABS used is recyclable at end of life.
