Structural Adhesive for Metal Bonding

This represents an industry first where a solvent-free, room-temperature cure structural adhesive is used for bare aluminum bonding, eliminating the need for pretreatment of oily aluminum surfaces via abrasion, primers, and coatings. The new material/process combo (including robotic assembly and use of self-piercing rivets) increases stiffness, improves throughput, reduces cost $53 USD/truck, eliminates the need for labor-intensive Huck bolt fasteners and torque sealing tape, lowers noise, and enhances worker ergonomics.  Elimination of exterior bolt heads also improves vehicle aesthetics and aerodynamics. The new adhesive is HAPS compliant and has ultra-low VOC emissions.
